Un User Agent, c'est quoi?
Le User Agent est une chaine de caractère qui est envoyée par votre navigateur à chaque page que vous visitez. Cette chaine de caractère contient des informations permettant d'identifier votre navigateur, on y retrouve souvent le nom du navigateur, sa version, le système que vous utilisez,... A titre d'exemple, voici le user agent de votre navigateur:
CCBot/1.0 (+http://www.commoncrawl.org/bot.html).
Le User Agent permet donc d'identifier un navigateur mais à quoi cela peut-il servir? C'est très simple. Les navigateurs n'affichent pas toujours un site de la même façon, ils ont tous leurs qualités et leur défauts. Pour pouvoir afficher un site de la même façon pour tout le monde, il faut donc pouvoir reconnaitre le navigateur et adapter le site en fonction de ce que le navigateur supporte. Ce type de pratique est recommandée pour les sites internet, elle est par contre absolument nécessaire pour les sites mobiles.
