What is MobileMultimedia about?
MobileMultimedia hosts detailed specifications of more than 5000 mobile phones and also shelters UAprofs and user agents for your mobile developments / projects. MobileMultimedia has also a free API allowing you to detect mobile phones and receive their detailed specifications to render your mobile pages correctly.
UAPROF (X-WAP-PROFILE)
UAprofs are XML files hosted by the handset manufacturers that contain many technical data about mobile phones. Each time a mobile phone connects to a mobile page, it usually sends the UAprofs (header: X-WAP-PROFILE) along with other http headers like the user agent or accept types.Available brands with their UAprof:

USER-AGENT (HTTP-USER-AGENT)
The user agent is a unique text string allowing you to identify the browser visiting your pages. User agents are availabe for computer based browsers like Explorer, Firefox and the others but they are also available for mobile phones. Why are user agents so important for mobile phones? As there isn't any standardization in the mobile world, it is important to be able to indentify mobile phones connecting to your pages and propose them mobile pages that fully take their technical restrictions into account. User agent are very commonly used to identify mobile phones but you also need to link user agents with phone capabilities so that you can build dynamic mobile pages that will display your content correctly on any phone.
